The Brown Table Chat

The Brown Table Chat is a panel-style gathering featuring top industry experts from the Black community. Our purpose is simple yet profound: to educate our audience and community on specific business topics and highlight the incredible talent and knowledge within the Black community.

Each event in the series will feature a dynamic panel of thought leaders who will share their insights, experience, and expertise in a collaborative, engaging atmosphere. From entrepreneurship to leadership, marketing to finance, and everything in between, The Brown Table Chat Series promises to deliver actionable insights and practical strategies that attendees can apply in their own businesses.

Our goal is to increase exposure for those on the panel, providing a platform for Black business leaders to showcase their knowledge and expertise. We believe that representation matters, and we’re committed to elevating the voices of Black professionals and entrepreneurs who are often underrepresented in mainstream media and industry events.

Ladies Who Lead

In 2016, Black to Business began spotlighting dynamic female founders who’ve made remarkable strides in business and community impact. To further this mission and honor Women’s History Month, we partnered with Verizon Wireless to host our inaugural Ladies Who Lead Panel. This intimate event showcases five influential Women at the Forefront of Black Entrepreneurship, delving into their entrepreneurial journey, triumphs, challenges, and the empowering force of Black female entrepreneurship.

Black Men Who Lead

Since 2017, Black to Business has highlighted dynamic male founders who have created amazing businesses and fostered positive changes within the Black community.

Black Men Who Lead is an initiative to create connection and conversation in order to build a stronger community between Black males who are pursuing and navigating entrepreneurship. The panel series is used as a space to gather and highlight local thought leaders and business owners giving them the opportunity to share their stories and point of views to inspire and educate the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The Black to Business Podcast also dedicates the month of June to the Black Men Who Lead initiative, interviewing Black male entrepreneurs and community leaders, amplifying their stories and broadcasting their knowledge to its worldwide audience. An annual list is also composed during this time including Black males from all around who are “up next founders” or leading in their industries.

Youth Impact:

We have formed impactful partnerships with several organizations to provide students and at-risk youth with valuable career development opportunities. Collaborating with the CUNY Career Launch program, we hosted nine interns who gained hands-on experience and mentorship, contributing fresh perspectives to the organization. Partnering with the Children’s Arts & Science Workshops, Inc. (CASW) during the Summer of 2023, we hosted seven interns, empowering at-risk youth by enhancing their skills and self-esteem. Additionally, our partnership with DreamYard involved hosting five high school students, offering a supportive environment for them to explore creativity and entrepreneurship. We continue to run these programs every year. These initiatives not only advance career development but also nurture the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs.

Black to Business has been proud to partner with the CUNY Career Launch program, an initiative by the City University of New York aimed at equipping students with the skills and experiences necessary for their professional journey. Through this collaboration, Black to Business has had the privilege of hosting nine interns, providing them with hands-on learning opportunities, mentorship, and exposure to the entrepreneurial world. These interns have contributed significantly to our projects, bringing fresh perspectives and energy while gaining invaluable real-world experience in the process. Together, we're not just fostering career development; we're nurturing the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs.

Black to Business is proud to have partnered with the Children's Arts & Science Workshops, Inc. (CASW) to host 7 interns during the Summer of 2023. Through this collaboration, we've provided at-risk youth with meaningful opportunities to develop essential skills, boost their self-esteem, and prepare for future success. By offering mentorship, hands-on experience, and exposure to the world of entrepreneurship, we've empowered these interns to envision brighter futures for themselves and actively participate as productive members of society. Our commitment to working with youth from diverse backgrounds not only fulfills our mission of fostering economic empowerment but also enriches our organization with fresh perspectives and innovative ideas.

We've proudly partnered with DreamYard, an arts education organization based in the Bronx, NYC, to host five high school students, providing them with hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to entrepreneurship. Through this collaboration, we've created a supportive environment where these talented young individuals can explore their creativity, build confidence, and develop essential skills for their future endeavors. With DreamYard, we've fostered a community where youth can thrive and reach their full potential.

Communitas America

Black to Business is excited to work with Communitas America, a nonprofit focused on economic mobility in NYC’s low-income neighborhoods, in a marketing partnership. Through programs like Communitas Ventures and Heyground Harlem, Communitas fosters an equitable economic ecosystem for BIPOC and women changemakers. This partnership aligns with Black to Business’ mission to support entrepreneurs and create an inclusive business landscape. Together, they’ll offer support to over 200 community-driven entrepreneurs, providing workshops and consultations on marketing basics, digital narratives, repurposing strategies, and content creation, empowering participants to thrive in the digital business landscape.
